Juanita Castro, Fidel Castro’s Sister, Will Not Attend Funeral
A longtime critic of the Castro regime is offering no words of condolence on the death of Fidel Castro.

HAVANA (AP) – Music fell silent, weddings were canceled and people wept in the streets Saturday as Cubans faced their first day without the leader who steered their island to both greater social equality and years of economic ruin.
Cuban leader Raul Castro said his brother died late on Friday, exactly 60 years since Fidel and a band of armed comrades left from the port of Tuxpan on Mexico’s Gulf coast.
Leaders in the Four-State said this could be what Cuba needs to move forward.
In Miami – home to the largest concentration of Cuban-Americans in the United States – the news spread quickly and with fervor.

Somehow the word had gotten out, and the newly-established Cuban leader insisted on stopping the auto three times to shake hands with the crowds who lined the streets, often over the heads of the nervous police officers trying to keep him safe.
