Julianne Moore to star in ‘Wonderstruck’
Selznick wrote “The Invention of Hugo Cabret”, which was adapted into the 2011 Martin Scorsese film “Hugo”.
Wonderstruck tells the intertwined story of two deaf children named Ben and Rose. Rose is a young girl locked away in the late 1920s who runs away to NY to meet her idol- the actress Lillian Mayhew. Haynes has producer Christine Vachon once more aboard for this one. Which character Moore will play however remains under wraps. With Safe, Far From Heaven, and his five-part miniseries Mildred Pierce, Haynes has proven himself to be one of the very few male directors not only interested in but capable of endowing women protagonists with genuine and far-reaching complexity.
It saw Moore pick up an Academy Award nomination for her portrayal of a 1950’s housewife whose seemingly ideal life disintegrates around her following the breakdown of her marriage. He’s even cast Julianne Moore to star in the film, titled Wonderstruck.
Haynes’ Carol, starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, will be out here on November 27.
“To be an actress and land a leading role in a Todd Haynes film must be a dream come true”. The actress will be next seen in The Hunger Games – Mockingjay Part 2.
