Julie Andrews celebrates awesome milestone: Congratulations!
Her portrayal as everyone’s favourite British nanny won her an Oscar for Best Actress in 1965. Not to mention her storied stage runs in musicals like My Fair Lady, her role as Rodgers and Hammerstein’s original Cinderella, and her second (third?) career as an author of children’s books. It wasn’t until 1964 when she appeared in “Mary Poppins” that America truly fell in love with her.
A spoonful of Julie Andrews makes any movie better.
Yes, you are now morally obligated to go watch The Sound of Music in its entirety. We know, you’re singing soundtrack in your head right now. The Oscar victor was conceived as a result of an affair her mother had with an unnamed family friend, according to several reports.
How could we have a Julie Andrews list and not include “Mary Poppins!” Whether it’s as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s boss in The Tooth Fairy or as Anne Hathaway’s grandmother in The Princess Diaries, Julie Andrews was simply royal, and scores of tweens and teens still enjoy those movies today.
Andrews cast in another singing role, because let’s face it, she’s fantastic. She also received an Oscar nomination for this film.

Who better to play the Queen of a small but highly civilized country than Julie Andrews in “The Princess Diaries?” Fine work, Julie, fine work.
Julie Andrews admitted that while there were many days she felt pretty solid after her husband’s death, there were days where she felt the heartache of his loss more deeply.
