Junior Galette agrees to 1-year deal with Redskins
Outside linebacker Junior Galette signed a one-year contract with the Washington Redskins on Friday after being released by the New Orleans Saints because of off-field problems. “He was just honest. It is not just me sitting in a room”. Washington had just 36 sacks last season.
During practice Friday, Galette did individual drills on a side field. It was a start.
“He told us he would do everything in his power to make sure that we wouldn’t regret it”, Gruden said. “But it’s what you do after that”. The hard part, he said, is when they’re not expecting it. Regardless of the substantial amount of money owed to him, New Orleans decided to take the cap hit, respectfully. “We came up with a group effort to give him an opportunity here”. They also have second-year outside linebacker Trent Murphy.
The Dallas Cowboys are once again the center of attention, and unfortunately, it’s because their name is connected to two troublesome players. Despite that, the Redskins are reportedly taking a look. The Redskins took a low risk option with Galette and now he has the chance to be a high upside player for the team. The NFL is also reviewing that. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers moreover have expressed interest in Galette, yet it is believed in that Washington ranks 1st on his list of destinations, another person familiar with Galette’s thinking said.
“Football players don’t really like the rain”.
Gruden added that they weighed Galette’s history before deciding to bring him in.
“We don’t have no doubt in our mind he’ll come in and do the right thing”. Trouble follow you sometimes.
You’re a guy who made the Pro Bowl in 2011, your first year in the league, and you were a founding member of the Legion of Boom. But that’s our teammate. “But from our perspective, we’ve got a long way to go and we haven’t played a game yet”. In the Sean Payton era the Saints have met and exceeded expectations far more times than not. “He was disappointed to be in the situation he was in”, Gruden said. “We will go through and figure out who is available”. Kerrigan had 13 sacks a year ago. Johnson was injured in a drive-by shooting in March, but the wounds to his shoulder are healing and wouldn’t affect his play on the field. “That’s the past”, Galette said. “Playing a Jack is something that’s going to be new to me but at the same time a lot of similarities to what I’ve been doing, it’s not like it’s going to be too much of a real change for me”.
