Junior Galette suspended two games for role in January incident
NFL suspended Redskins OLB Junior Galette two games for violating the league’s personal-conduct policy.
Galette was placed on the Washington Redskins ‘ injured reserve list after tearing his Achilles in August, but his suspension will still apply to the current season. Galette will be forced to forfeit two game paychecks but will not be forced to sit out the two games whenever he comes back from the injury, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Galette, 27, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor simple battery/domestic violence in January after a domestic incident at his home in Kenner, La., but the charges were dropped on February 19.
The accuser later filed a civil suit against Galette, alleging he sexually abused her for years.
The fact his two-game suspension won’t carry over to next season will help Galette’s bargaining position should he choose to re-sign with Washington or move to another team. “Domestic violence charges can only involve persons in the same household, he said”.
Washington inked Galette to a one-year deal in late July, despite his release from the New Orleans Saints a week prior.
Lastly, there was the surfacing of a video which shows a man reported to be Galette striking a woman during a massive brawl.
The Redskins signed him on July 31.
