Jurgen Klopp delivers honest verdict on Liverpool’s top four hopes
Liverpool begin their final ten games of the season.
Jurgen Klopp says he is still the right man to win a league title for Liverpool and cannot think of anyone better for the job.
City are unbeaten in six Premier League games, while Liverpool are on a two-match winning run.
Klopp will hope for a big performance from Coutinho against top-four rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, especially with fitness doubts hanging over his compatriot Roberto Firmino and striker Divock Origi. “This is a club which should be in the Champions League and we want to get there”.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp also has the slight edge in head-to-head meetings with Guardiola following the Reds’ victory at Anfield in December.
“He has been ideal in training this week”. At Manchester City it’s like this.
City crashed out of the Champions League to Monaco on away goals at the last-16 stage, the first time in Guardiola’s career he has failed to reach at least the semi-finals. This has, inevitably, put Pep Guardiola under some pressure. Burnley wasn’t his best game, but that’s pretty normal after a long injury, this consistency.
The Gunners lost 3-1 at the Hawthorns in Saturday’s early game, leaving them a huge 19 points behind Chelsea in the title race, but more importantly trailing Liverpool in fourth place by five with only one match in hand.
At Guardiola’s disposal will be a almost full squad, albeit one that played a hard midweek match.
Gabriel Jesus and İlkay Gündoğan will not be available because of long-term injuries.
Nicolas Otamendi is expected to get a recall after being on the bench in midweek while Yaya Toure and Pablo Zabaleta are also pushing for game-time. Now is the time to start seeing his best football.
“Dejan Lovren had, for four weeks, a knee issue – nothing was fatigue”.
Even Tottenham are likely to reinvest further to maintain pace with England’s elite, and Guardiola says the cash flow doesn’t stop in the Premier League.
Kickoff is set for 4.30PM GMT/12.30PM EST tomorrow on Sky Sports 1 in the UK.
This has translated to a 30% decline in Liverpool’s win rate in just a few months, and most importantly – almost a full point less taken from each match. You can find full listings at LivesoccerTV.
“That was halfway there to win the game”.
