Jurgen Klopp dismisses ‘crazy’ Premier League title talk
A double from Philippe Coutinho and a Christian Benteke strike cancelled out Ramires’ early header to condemn the Blues to their sixth defeat in only 11 Premier League games this term at the weekend.
Jurgen Klopp insists he is more keen to develop his current Liverpool players than buy new ones, adding: “If you have a problem with your wife, you don’t want to change every day”.
“I was hoping that I don’t understand the question”. “I have been here three weeks”.
Abramovich has wielded the managerial axe with regularity when a place in the Premier League’s top four and qualification for the Champions League have been in danger. And all the others have pressure all year and then only one team will win the league.
“I don’t think anyone in this room is in doubt that he is one of the best managers in the world”.
Mourinho had the most legitimate complaint, though, when Lucas avoided a second yellow card for a challenge on Ramires with more than 20 minutes to go and the score 1-1. Asked if he thought the game was his last as Chelsea boss, Mourinho, who received strong backing from the home support throughout, said: “No, I don’t”. I don’t think we, myself and them, are not going to have a great Saturday dinner, even families for sure. The start was not good, but then we came back.
“Phil is a brilliant player and we don’t have to talk about his qualities”. We had our moments, we played football and our build-up with short passes – what we want to do – was very good. That is his quality of course.
“After half-time we managed to protect our situation better but we made a goal”.
“To beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge is always something special and especially after the performance we showed”.
“You try to play from here (pointing to his chest) but you lose your coolness, your flexibility and your fun for the game”. That’s what we try to do every day.
Klopp had previously been critical of his side for failing to respond when falling behind but welcomed an improved reaction on Saturday.
“He’s a manager who demands a lot of hard work”.
He told Sportsweek: “Let me tell you what I know on the Chelsea story”.
