Jurgen Klopp Free to Sign Players from Borussia Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke has confirmed that there is no agreement in place to stop Jurgen Klopp from poaching any of their players in the transfer window.
Klopp joined the Anfield outfit from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund – via a sabbatical – and knows the German league well from his time spent in his homeland.
If he were to make any signigns, it is likely he would look to improve his options up front given Liverpool’s struggles in that department. “He would contact us before (he contacts the player)”, added 59-year-old Watzke.
According to Reports, Jurgen Klopp has no agreement with Borussia Dortmund about signing or selling players and as such he is looking to sign Serbian central defender Neven Subotic.
The Reds boss has denied he has an agreement with his former club.
“Maybe it’s because there are not too many negative things to find at Bayern right now”, he said.
“I have a good relationship with Borussia Dortmund and I have a very good relationship with all their players”.
Liverpool have been spuriously linked to Marco Reus, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Ilkay Gundogan and a number of other Dortmund players, but it’s not something we can expect until the summer.
Reports last week claimed Hummels had told coach Thomas Tuchel “I am not married to Dortmund!” after criticisms over some of his displays this season.
“This decision isn’t for today or tomorrow, but we are always preparing for the moment”.
“Jurgen would never do anything that would damage BVB’s interests”, he told told Bild am Sonntag. “We’ve all done it. You go back because you know the player, you know his character, you know what he brings to the team both on and off the field”. “We can openly and constructively discuss and swap ideas, and we’ll continue to do so”.
