Jurgen Klopp plays down title talk
Kevin Keegan believes Jurgen Klopp will raid the Bundesliga when it comes to strengthening his Liverpool squad next summer.
Nevertheless, nine points separates Liverpool from the table-topping Sky Blues, and the German, who won two Bundesliga titles with Borussia Dortmund, is not looking ahead.
“That is the way the club perceives itself”.
“Liverpool have not been genuine title contenders for a while, but the expectation will always be there because of the type of club it is”.
With just three wins from their opening 13 league games, the Welsh side are under pressure coming into tomorrow’s clash against Liverpool and last season’s 4-1 hiding at the same venue is not expected to fill the Swansea fans with much hope. “So I know what helps and what doesn’t – and what doesn’t help is to talk about things you have no influence on”, he is quoted as saying by The Mirror. The gaffer is showing his confidence in every player, he has faith in all of us, and I think that’s important that everyone feels they have the manager’s trust.
“When you’re in these periods you need a complete performance that gives you that belief to get through it”.
Monk was able to get his players playing in a good, solid defensive shape previous year – particularly away at the stronger sides in the division – and got wins at the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Southampton, but this season they don’t look capable of those sorts of results.
“In their minds it relieves it and they go again”.
“We made the changes with the right intentions, and those players were part of the team that fought back from 2-0 down when as a team we were not performing at our best”. Swansea will not roll over here and I expect a performance from them.
