Jurgen Klopp ‘pretty alone’ following Liverpool FC fans walkout
“Eighty-two minutes – game over”, said Klopp, who suffered his first defeat as Liverpool boss.
“I am satisfied with a few moments, but the problem I have is we play 95 minutes”. “We decide how good we are, how awake we are, how exhausted we are, nobody else”, said Klopp.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has called on his side to learn from the mistakes they made in Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace.
“We have to learn that it is we who decide”.
The German failed to criticise the fans’ reaction, but admits Liverpool needed the fans more than ever late on to propel them back into the game. We are responsible and that nobody can leave the stadium a minute before the last whistle because everything can happen and that’s what we have to show. We need to make sure we capitalise on that’.
“The [Palace] goal was on 82 minutes, and I saw many people leaving the stadium”. If everybody thinks that we gave everything we have tonight, then it’s wrong.
An extended break could, of course, be the best thing for the 25-year old, but whether or not he’ll be fit following it is an entirely different story altogether.
During Sunday’s encounter with Crystal Palace, the Liverpool defender landed awkwardly after a challenge with Palace winger Yannick Bolasie in the first half.
“Today is a bad feeling – it was not necessary to lose this game”, he told BBC Sport.
The Mail reports that Sakho will have a scan on his knee today [Monday], but Klopp is fearing the worst.
“We didn’t score in the period early in the game, we scored right at the end of it and that was our mistake really, because we backed off at that point and for 15, 20 minutes, we let Liverpool dominate us”. You could see he was going to win that ball.
“We don’t want to speculate, but we have to wait for a scan”, Klopp added.
“Look, I say what I think, please don’t make it bigger than it is”.
“I would prefer to lose 4-1 and keep him”.
