Just in: Ex US Rep jailed 21 months in sexting case
In September a year ago, his victim said she had exchanged lewd messages with Weiner for a number of months and also accused him of asking her to undress on camera.
Prosecutors said, “Weiner, a grown man, a father, and a former lawmaker, willfully and knowingly asked a 15-year old girl to display her body and engage in sexually explicit conduct for him online”.
“This is not merely a ‘sexting” case, ‘ prosecutors wrote.
Weiner, 53, had first made contact with his teenage love interest in January of 2016.
Weiner went to sex rehab a year ago after the Daily Mail story broke; his actions triggered divorce proceedings with his wife, top Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin, and a national political firestorm.
FBI director James B. Comey informed members of Congress on Friday via a letter that emails had surfaced in a case that “appear to be pertinent to the investigation” of Clinton’s use of a private email server.
Weiner left Congress in 2011 due to a previous sex scandal, which erupted when a graphic image sent from his Twitter account was seen publicly, the BBC said. One of the photos taken by Weiner showed him in boxer briefs while his then-four-year-old son lay next to him in bed. However, Clinton has reprimanded Comey’s treatment of the scene more than some other factor for her misfortune to Donald Trump. He had pled guilty in May, asking along with estranged wife Huma Abedin that he be spared prison.
Abedin did not attend the proceeding in May when Weiner pleaded guilty to the sick sexts with the teen girl.
Anthony Weiner, right, and Huma Abedin are seen in court, Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017 in NY. He will begin serving his 21-month-prison sentence on November 6.
Weiner was aware that his victim was an underage high school student, according to court documents, yet he continued to exchange increasing lewd messages with her.
Kramer said Weiner should go to prison for between 21 months and 27 months. The defense attorneys argue that Weiner didn’t send sexually explicit communications because the girl was a minor, but sent the messages in spite of her age, according to FOX. Clinton has said she believes that move cost her the presidency.
Weiner had better be getting ready for hard time.
In spite of the right course of action by the Department of Justice in this particular case, there are two pending cases, in Florida and New York, where a close friend and donor of the Clinton’s and Weiner’s, and registered level 3 New York City sex offender, far more unsafe and influential than Mr. Weiner, remains free and without any online supervision.
“Anthony had already caused so much heartache. And now this. ‘This man is going to be the death of me, ‘ (Huma) said, bursting into tears”.
