Just what is this Nissan Crossover tease for Frankfurt?
Nissan has released a teaser sketch for a mystery crossover that will be unveiled later this month in Frankfurt.
Previewed in a single digital image, little more than the nose of the new vehicle is revealed, though Nissan has at least suggested that it forms part of a driver-focused, performance crossover.
It wasn’t long ago that Nissan was planning a three-tier sports vehicle lineup with a GT-R at the top, a new Z in the middle, and an entry-level model with elements from the pair of IDx concept cars at the bottom.
It features Nissan latest design language, as seen in the prominent V-shaped grille, boomerang headlamps, and the floating roof impression. Also visible are the aggressive creases and curves that runs across the length, massive wheel arches, large rims, dual-tone black and red paint job.
Nissan’s chief creative officer, Shiro Nakamura, hinted at the model’s arrival back in June, telling evo that a new “innovative and exciting” vehicle that would “inherit the spirit” of the current Juke will be previewed soon at an global motor show. Expect a hybrid or electric powertrain under the skin (if at all Nissan chooses to share the concept’s powertrain details).
We’ll have to wait for the official unveiling in Frankfurt to find out.
The Frankfurt concept is rumored to be one of several to test the waters, suggesting the company is still gauging public reaction before making a final production decision on a new mainstream crossover or next-generation Z vehicle.
