Justin Bieber congratulates NHS Choir after they beat him to Christmas Number…
The Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Choir, featuring physiotherapists, porters and administrators as well as doctors and nurses, just upset Justin Bieber’s Love Yourself for the number one Christmas song in the UK.
When Bieber heard about his worthy musical opponents, he took to Twitter to urge his 72 million followers to throw their support behind the charity single to push its sales ahead of his own. Superb. That’s what Christmas is all about. Amazing. That is what Christmas is all about.
The 21-year-old singer’s “Love Yourself” was ahead previously, but then Bieber tweeted that he wanted fans to do the right thing and boost the charity single to the coveted spot, reports Channel 24.com.
But at lunchtime on Christmas Day, they were gathered together to discover whether the impossible could come true – a number one festive hit… Let’s do the right thing and help them win.
He added: “This is what it’s all about”.
“We are absolutely overwhelmed and couldn’t be any happier”, the group said in a statement released by the Official Charts Company.
According to the BBC, all proceeds from the choir’s sales will go to charity!
Her album, 25, has already made chart history and now holds the top spot for the fifth week running.
