Juve’s Poor Serie A Start Continues
Felipe Melo fired in the only goal of the game as Inter kept their ideal Serie A record with a 1-0 win over Verona, while Juventus drew.
Serie A debutants Frosinone picked up their first-ever top flight point with a shock 1-1 draw at titleholders Juventus on Wednesday (Sep 23) while leaders Inter Milan made it five wins out of five.
The four-time reigning champions, who have yet to win at home, looked to be heading for their second victory of their campaign in the 50th minute when Simone Zaza struck his first goal since joining the Turin giants from Sassuolo this summer.
However, Blanchard silenced the crowd at the Juventus stadium when he rose highest to head Danilo Soddimo’s corner into the back of the net with one minute remaining.
Fiorentina are now Inter’s nearest challengers after they won 2-0 at home against Bologna, Jakub Blaszczykowski and Nikola Kalinic grabbing the goals.
Sergio Floccari gave surprise package Sassuolo a 1-0 win at Palermo to put them third (11 points) and Chievo beat Torino by the same score.
“It was a mistake to allow Frosinone a corner in the last minute of the game”.
Sampdoria 2-1 Roma: Eder opened the scoring and Mohamed Salah provided the equaliser, but it was Kostas Manolas’s own goal that gave the hosts the win.
Lazio were 2-0 winners over Genoa, who had Issa Cissokho and Goran Pandev sent off in the second half.
Juventus will now turn their focus to Saturday’s trip to Napoli.
