Juventus fine and suspend Caceres after auto crash
Caceres is reported to have crashed the vehicle into the central reservation and collided with two parked cars late on Monday night before coming to a stop beneath a bus shelter.
“The behaviour of Martin Caceres on the night of 28 and 29 September is a serious violation of the commitments undertaken at Juventus, as well as damaging to the image of our club”, the Bianconeri acknowledged in a statement. Authorities then tested his blood-alcohol level, which registered over the legal limit.
Caceres joined Juventus from Sevilla in 2012 and has won four Serie A titles with the club.
Juventus have punished defender Martin Caceres with suspension, after the Uruguayan was involved in a drink-drive crash earlier today.
The incident comes less than 48 hours before Wednesday evening’s Champions League clash with Europa League champions, Sevilla. The player was able to walk away unharmed, but was fined €1,000 by the police, who took away his licence and his auto for 180 days. “Having said that, he made a mistake, he should’ve got a taxi and it would’ve ended there”.
“Hopefully a win will help us all forget what’s happened”.
