Juventus insist that Paul Pogba is not for sale
ESPN FC’s Steve Nicol believes Barcelona is Paul Pogba’s best choice to play at next season.
Barcelona members will vote for their choice out of the four candidates running for president, this Saturday at the Camp Nou and their votes will determine the direction of the club following several controversial years under Sandro Rosell and Josep Maria Bartomeu.
According to the report, last month, the Champions League winners had a £56 million bid for the 22-year-old rejected by Juventus – who themselves are desperate to retain the French international’s services amid interest from Barcelona and the likes of Chelsea and Man Utd.
The English press have reported the coming to an end of the Paul Pogba transfer saga, claiming the Juventus midfielder would have chosen Barcelona. “But the player is not for sale”, Marotta said.
Marotta did admit: “We have negotiated with Barca in recent months”. We have done so in a serious and correct manner as it should be between two teams that have a lot of history and importance in world football.
I know [head of the football sector] Albert Soler. I think the trip to Turin was political, a chance to take a picture.
“The situation is very clear between Barca and Juventus after the meeting we had in Milan“.
“[Barca] made us a serious and concrete offer and we answered in the same way”.
The longer the summer goes on the more Paul Pogba boosts Joan Laporta’s bid to return as Barcelona’s president.
Barcelona had been in protracted negotiations with Juventus over the sale of Pogba, with the Catalan media reporting that both clubs had come to a gentlemen’s agreement over the Frenchman’s release in 2016.
