Kane extends point streak as Blackhawks beat Predators 4-1
Patrick Kane could be there first American-born and raised player to ever collect the trophy and has a chance to extend his point streak to 23 games on December 8th against Pekka Rinne and the Nashville Predators.
At a pace of 1.55 points per game and now on a Blackhawks record setting 22 game point streak, he is pulling away from any potential challenger.
Marian Hossa scored a goal and collected an assist while Teuvo Teravainen and Panarin also scored for Chicago. Christian Ehrhoff and Jeff Carter scored in regulation as LA fought back from an 0-2 first period deficit.
The goal also marked Kane’s 600th career point, which took him eight-plus seasons and 603 games to reach.
Bobby Hull, who held the franchise record for longest streak since January 1972, was at the United Center to witness Kane break his streak. Chicago defeated Nashville 4-2 in the Western Conference quarterfinals last season en route to its third Stanley Cup championship in the last six years. The Predators squandered a two-goal, third period lead and fell in overtime at Detroit on Saturday before rallying for a 3-2 triumph in Boston two nights later. “Like I said, the results tonight we don’t like”.
Lack, who stopped 10 shots, replaced Cam Ward after he gave up four goals on eight shots in the first period.
Rasmussen opened the scoring with a deflection at 10:45 of the first. The Nashville Predators are averaging 2.6 goals per game and are scoring on 20.7 percent of their power plays.
The Predators (14-9-5) had moved in striking distance when they trimmed the Blackhawks’ lead to 2-1 with 46 seconds remaining in the second period. He stopped Viktor Arvidsson, and then popped up off the ice to make a glove save on Barret Jackman’s rebound with three minutes left. Crawford was absolutely fantastic in this one, often looking like a man on a mission after his brutal failures against this same Nashville team in the 2015 postseason. “Obviously, personally, it feels awful being a goalie (when we’re) the dominating team as far as shots go and the zone time, things like that”. Logan Couture recorded an assist in his first game back for the Sharks since October 13 … With a DraftKings price of just $3,900 he could add big value to your line without the Kaner price tag. He hesitated a split second before firing and beat Rinne high on the stick side.
NOTES: Blackhawks D Trevor Daley sat out due to an upper-body injury. The Blackhawks recalled Rasmussen from Rockford of the AHL on Monday…. Predators C Mike Fisher missed his fourth consecutive game with a lower-body injury….
