Kane: I will be ready for season opener
Onomah made his senior debut for Spurs from the bench in an FA Cup tie against Burnley in January and appeared in both of the club’s post-season friendlies in Malaysia and Australia.
Manchester United and Chelsea were two very good examples last season, of sides who quickly worked out a way to keep Kane isolated at the top of Tottenham’s team.
The England worldwide enjoyed a sparkling season for Spurs under Mauricio Pochettino as he established himself as one of the Premier League’s top strikers.
Alan Shearer, the Premier League’s all-time top scorer, said in March that year Kane “seems to have that natural ability to get goals”.
Do you think Kane can avoid second season syndrome?
“I watch it (the Chelsea game) back sometimes when I’m at home and there’s nothing on, so I’ll have a look back, not just at that game but all games”.
I know I’d rather see youth players like Shaquile Coulthirst or Nathan Oduwa get their shot with the first team than give those minutes to players who will not contribute to the team no matter what happens.
Kane joined up with his Spurs team-mates earlier this month after being granted an extended summer break following his involvement in the Under-21 European championships with England.
“I don’t think I’ll miss the start of the season, there’s more than enough time to be ready for the start of the season”, he added.
“I still keep myself fit and in shape, it isn’t like I just let myself go, so I’ll be ready for the start of the season for sure”.
