Kane scores on injury return to clinch Spurs draw at Arsenal
Harry Kane’s goalscoring return against Arsenal provided a vital boost to the Tottenham squad, according to Mauricio Pochettino.
Kane came very close to an opener with a diving header from a curled Eriksen cross from the right on 22 minutes that flew an inch wide of the left hand post.
Dembele went off injured in the first half of that European game.
And the 23-year-old now hopes to be involved when England host Scotland in a World Cup qualifier at Wembley next Friday, followed by a friendly meeting with Spain at the same venue four days later. “At the moment both teams are doing well so I think that is why this one is more interesting”.
“It’s hard to say one team deserved it more than the other”, Pochettino said. “But we have another opportunity now and we will see what happens”.
Visiting manager Pochettino set his side out in a bold 3-4-2-1 formation and it seemed to take Arsenal by surprise.
It was a bold move that just about paid off for Spurs, who recovered their assurance at the back after a shaky display against Bayer Leverkusen and created more chances going forward.
However, the Spurs have not registered a win at the Emirates stadium in their last six visits, and with their form at this point, they will need to seriously rethink a lot of their strategies if they want to win.

“Our players deserve full credit today – they were fantastic”.
“That was not the basic problem”.
Theo Walcott thundered a shot against the crossbar in the first half while Tottenham, who finished stronger, almost won it late on when Christian Eriksen’s curling free kick into the area evaded everyone and bounced off the post.
The Gunners had to wait until 30 minutes for their first effort on target when Alexis Sanchez teed up Alexi Iwobi in the box. We were calm at half-time, we had chances in the first half.
“We gave everything but were not as sharp physically as we can be in the final part of the game”. Tottenham: Hugo Lloris 6, Eric Dier 7, Kevin Wimmer 5, Jan Vertonghen 7, Kyle Walker 6, Mousa Dembele 8, Victor Wanyama 7, Danny Rose 6, Christian Eriksen 7, Son Heung-min 6, Harry Kane 6.
“I tried to tell Petr where to go but I got it completely wrong”, Walcott told BT Sport.
And Wenger says he thought the spot kick was “very soft” in his post-match interview. “There was no danger to score and there was no deliberate foul”.
The Kenyan midfielder proved his usual bustling presence at the base of Spurs’ midfield and despite a flare-up with Theo Walcott late in the first half, he avoided a booking.
