The situation at the Patiala House Court was “unprecedented” and there was an “atmosphere of fear and terror” and that there was a total breakdown of law and order, a team of senior lawyers today told the Supreme Court which had asked them to get a first hand assessment.

However, the report said that Kanhaiya Kumar didn’t raise anti-national slogans but was just standing with DSU activists.

Referring to the incident in the Madras High Court where security of the court premises was handed over to the Central Reserve Police Force, the court said that police is blamed either way whether it acts or not. “It appears that some JNU students, along with some outsiders, raised anti-national slogans inside JNU campus”, Kumar has written in a statement that was tweeted by Delhi Police chief Bassi.

At this juncture the magistrate told the lawyers that he will call the doctors from the Patiala House Court dispensary to medically examine Kanhaiya inside the court room itself.

The panel was empowered by supreme court to visit Patiala House Court and report back about the violence done by lawyers.
