Kante completes Leicester switch
There’s no confirmation from the club on this deal yet, but the Leicester Mercury have manager Claudio Ranieri quoted as saying that the deal for Caen midfielder N’Golo Kante should be completed ‘very soon.’.
It has emerged that Benalouane is set to join Leicester City for a fee believed to be in the region of around €8million and the transfer is on the verge of completion within the next few days.
The 24-year-old Frenchman becomes new Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri’s first signing, although Robert Huth, Christian Fuchs and Shinji Okazaki had joined prior to the Italian’s arrival this summer.
Benalouane, who will wear the number 29 in the Midlands, previously revealed on his official website that he left Serie A outfit Atalanta “in tears”.
A few hours later Leicester announced the signing of his compatriot Benalouane, a tall former France Under-21 worldwide, as their fifth recruit of the close-season. “My impression is very good because in this city, and England, football is most important”.
“I am happy to have the opportunity to learn another language and I will experience new things and be very positive”.
The tall centre-back seemed reluctant to leave Italy after just a single season at Atalanta – plus a six month loan spell – but the club’s precarious financial situation meant that he had to leave for the good of the team.
“He told me it’s different to Italy, because it’s very high-impact”.
