Kante leaves English champion Leicester to join Chelsea
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has revealed that N’Golo Kante was a major target for the club and not a backup signing.
“But I don’t like to lose, and this is the same for my players”.
He joined the Foxes from French side Caen last summer and made his worldwide debut in March this year before going on to be a part of Didier Deschamps’ side as they reached the final of Euro 2016 on home soil.
“It is a great club, which has just recruited a great coach and want to reach high ambitions I share. I am looking forward to meeting up with my new team-mates and helping the club achieve a lot of success”. “And season of course!!”
The 25-year-old Kante was one of the key players in Leicester’s improbable title triumph last season.
But reports persist that winger Riyad Mahrez could also soon be on his way out having turned down his own fresh contract offer.
The France global completed his almost $40 million move from Leicester City on Saturday as he became Conte’s second signing since arriving in west London.
“The 2015/2016 past season will remain as an important season for me”, he wrote. We lost, but we can be proud.
“I am very happy because together we are working to improve the squad”.
“Of course it has to be appreciated according to the attack that struck in Nice in July 14th and I have at this point a honest thought for all the victims and their families”.
“I think I saw some situations that I saw last season and I think this game is very important because we can learn a lot from this”.
Antonio Conte was asked specifically about Napoli center back Kalidou Koulibaly after the match in Vienna, but the Chelsea head coach sidestepped all such inquires by sticking to his policy of not talking about players on other teams.
“My first season in English football was very special and now I hope to go on to achieve even more during my time as a Chelsea player”.
