Kanye West reveals new album title
West has yet to respond to the online outrage, posting tweets related to basketball star LeBron James’ Nike shoes and his New York Fashion Week show instead. “I guessed Kanye had announced the title and it was The Life of Pablo”, he recalls.
On Monday, Kanye West tweeted that he had changed the name of his upcoming seventh album… again.
Others have speculated that it refers to notorious Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. This is the fourth album title change since West announced he would be dropping one previous year.
It will coincide with his sold-out Yeezy Season 3 fashion show, where performance artist Vanessa Beecroft is expected to hit the stage. When the album was still called Swish, West had shared a proposed tracklist, from which only Father Stretch My Hands, High Lights, Fade, FML, Real Friends and Wolves remain.
However, once the album title was revealed, many fans got into Twitter wars trying to prove that he/she was the first to accurately guess The Life of Pablo.
Kim Kardashian’s husband has been teasing TLOP since early 2015.
West has also compared himself to Michelangelo and said he plans to run for the U.S. presidency in 2020.
Notably, the Kendrick Lamar featuring track “No More Parties in LA” has been dropped from the album, as have the previously unheard tracks “Waves” and “30 Hours”.
He’s quite possibly been influenced by recent storms in NY too – his 1050 Duck Boots have also been given a remix, with added Gore-Tex providing waterproof layering and upper detailing.
Following Kanye’s confirmation of the record’s new name, speculation about who the Pablo is in the title began. You might remember that in his track “Facts”, Yeezy raps, “Do anybody feel bad for Bill Cosby?“.
