Kanye West’s ‘Famous’ Nude Sculpture Now on Sale for $4 Million
“This caught me off guard”.
LOS ANGELES, CA – AUGUST 26: Kim Kardashian attends Famous by Kanye West a private exhibition event at Blum And Poe, Los Angelesat Blum & Poe on August 26, 2016 in Los Angeles, California.
Blum went on to say West’s name, along with the notoriety of the piece, would command a figure of roughly $4 million if the piece were to ever be sold.
If you or someone rich you know wants to buy the “Famous” sculpture, then hop on this steal now before it’s too late!
The work features 12 major figures in pop culture rendered nude in hyper-realistic silicon: namely George W. Bush, Donald Trump, Amber Rose, Rihanna, Chris Brown, Anna Wintour, Bill Cosby, Ray J, and Taylor Swift. (Apparently the rising and collapsing of their chests as they “breathe” is powered by batteries.) Gallery co-owner Tim Blum cites a series of factors contributing to making that price, erm, reasonable for the particular work of thought-provoking art (…media trolling?/thought-provoking art?/ media trolling?/thought-provoking art?). “I was there with the tools to get it right”.
“I did the math in my head, and it took $500,000 to a million just to make it”, Los Angeles artist Aaron Axelrod told The New York Times.
West has since fired back, telling TMZ he’s overall confused as to why Ray J is mad at him for “Famous” at this point in the game.
West told Vanity Fair in an interview that the video is “not in support or anti any of [the people in the video]”. “We were very careful with shots that had [something] sexual to take them out”, he said. “But my wife also puts up photos that other husbands wouldn’t let them put up”, he said.
Talk about art imitating life…
