Kanye West To Receive MTV Video Vanguard Award This Sunday
West is being celebrated for “his career-spanning groundbreaking videos, legendary VMA performances, and continued impact on music, art, fashion, and culture”. The music star has been chosen as the 2015 recipient of MTV’s Video Vanguard Award. Perhaps one of the last few artists who has an intense visual focus in addition to his music, he is finally coming back to MTV to receive the VMA’s highest honor: The Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
West joins the likes of past winners like Beyonce, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Peter Gabriel, Britney Spears, and Justin Timberlake in accepting the award.
Kim Kardashian’s husband has produced a number of noteworthy videos in his career, including “Jesus Walks”, “Bound 2” and “Run This Town” with Rihanna and Kanye West.
Taylor Swift leads this year’s nominations with nine Moonmen in her sights, but Ed Sheeran and Beyoncé follow close behind with six and five respectively.
Miley Cyrus, who won 2014′s video of the year for Wrecking Ball, will host the 2015 VMAs, which will air live on August 30 from the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles. More performers and presenters will be announced in the coming weeks.
