Kanye West To Receive The Video Vanguard Award At MTV VMA’s 2015
West hasn’t commented on receiving the honor yet, but we’re sure whatever he has to say will be in classic Kanye fashion.
Announcing the news on Twitter MTV wrote: ‘.@KanyeWest will receive the Video Vanguard Award at the 2015 #VMAs this Sunday at 9/8c!
According to MTV, the “All Day” Rapper will be taking the stage during the VMAs to accept the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
MTV’s announcement cited West’s “years of releasing groundbreaking music and accompanying videos that have always pushed the envelope”.
No one man should have all that power!
Kanye is the owner of two VMAs already, taking home the Best Male Video trophy for Jesus Walks in 2005 and the Best Special Effects award for 2008’s Good Life.
Past recipients of the award include Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce and Jackson himself. “Kanye West would be the first person to tell you he belongs on this list”, Musk wrote, and called him a “pop juggernaut”.
The freshly announced artists join previously confirmed performs like The Weeknd.
Officials at America’s Parents Television Council are pleading with advertisers to boycott this weekend’s MTV Video Music Awards because they feel host Miley Cyrus is a bad influence on kids.
Ed Sheeran follows with six nominations including video of the year for his chart-topping hit Thinking Out Loud, while Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar and Mark Ronson have five each.
