Kanye West to replace Frank Ocean at FYF music festival
Kanye West might be performing instead of Frank Sea at this current weekend’s FYF music festival.
Kanye West will replace Ocean, per FYF’s press release. Other notable acts include Jesus & Mary Chain, Belle & Sebastian, fka Twigs, Bloc Party, Run The Jewels, Mac DeMarco, The Purity Ring, Savages, Solange, Toro y Moi, METZ, and Unknown Mortal Orchestra.
FYF tapped Kanye West to fill the 75-minute set that closes the main stage on Day 1. “The album has originally been slated for a July released, based on a “#JULY2015” hashtag that appeared on the album’s microsite.
In the spring, the singer took to Tumblr to post a picture of himself looking down at a stack of magazines called Boys Don’t Cry. “I got twoooo versions…”, he wrote alongside a handful of promising hashtags that included #ALBUM3 and #JULY2015.
There’s no word as to the details behind Ocean’s cancellation, but his more optimistic fans are hopeful that it means he’s choosing to focus on his long-awaited follow-up album to 2012′s critically acclaimed Channel Orange.
This announcement comes just a couple of days before the two-day event is expected to hit the L.A. Sports Arena and Exposition Park on August 22 and 23.
