Kareem Abdul-Jabbar needles Trump: ‘I’m Michael Jordan’
Abdul-Jabbar is the National Basketball Association’s all-time leading scorer and a six-time NBA championship victor.
The crowd initially seemed confused by his comment, until he explained that “I said that because I knew Donald Trump couldn’t tell the difference”.
Delegates’ confusion immediately turned to laughter and applause. Abdul-Jabbar went on to address the dangers of Trump, calling his ideas about Islam “tyrannical”.
“They are the opposite of what Jefferson wanted because they allow discrimination”, he said.
“Discrimination is the result of fear”, Abdul-Jabbar added.
Abdul-Jabbar was on-stage to introduce Khizr Khan, the father of Capt. Humayun Khan, who was killed in Iraq in 2004. No, it wasn’t Michael Jordan, but Kareem Abdul-Jabbar brought his name up in humorous fashion in order to mock Donald Trump. To them, we say only this: “Not here, not ever”.
Kareem appeared at the convention to slam Trump’s views on Muslims.
Khan then reached into his suit pocket and pulled out a copy of the U.S. Constitution. He vows to build walls and ban us from this country. “Donald Trump, you’re asking Americans to trust you with their future; let me ask you, have you even read the United States Constitution?”
