Karisma Kapoor Now Officially Divorced From Sunjay Kapur
Mumbai Family court on Monday finally granted divorce to Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur. On Monday, the estranged couple’s divorce was settled with the Bandra family court in Mumbai accepting their consent terms agreed upon by the couple in April this year.
Looking back, it may be recalled that post their marriage in 2003, Sunjay Kapur and Karisma Kapoor had filed for divorce through mutual consent in 2014.
The children – Samaira and Kiaan – will be under Karisma’s care.
Both listened intently, with unspoken assurance, as the judge told them how they would no longer have to come to court now unless either of them breached any condition of the settlement or went “against the spirit of the consent terms”. However, Sunjay will be having access to them for two weekends during vacations. The two tried to make things work after the Delhi high court advised them to explore the possibility of a settlement. The couple’s Khar flat which was owned by Sunjay’s father, late Surinder Kapur, too has been transferred on Karisma’s name. Later Sunjay made heads turn with his statement that Karisma married him on a rebound after her break-up with Abhishek Bachchan.
A lawyer involved in the case on condition of anonymity said that the family court granted divorce after it was informed that the matter has been resolved amicably at the Supreme Court. Rumours are also doing rounds in some part of Delhi, that businessman Sunjay Kapur is planning to take one step ahead of his relationship with Priya Sachdev. The couple was even believed to be living separate lives.
The Supreme Court had also quashed an FIR filed by Karisma against her husband and in-laws alleging domestic violence.
