Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: ‘I know where Pep Guardiola is going’
It is believed that Manchester City leads the chase for Guardiola, but Manchester United, Chelsea and PSG could also be interested in his services.
Chelsea first approached the Spaniard in 2012 just after the blues won their first champion’s league crown but he turned down their offer and joined Bayern Munich instead.
This season Munich are eight points clear at the top of the Bundesliga in search of an unprecedented fourth title in a row, and in the running for a title treble in the final months with the Spanish coach.
Rummenigge, despite claiming to know Pep’s next destination, has refused to reveal the identity of the club and admitted it was a hard decision to make for the former Barcelona manager.
“I honestly wish FC Bayern Munich and my friend Pep Guardiola the best for the current season”.
Ancelotti delivered Madrid’s coveted 10th Champions League title in 2014 – beating Guardiola’s Bayern en route to the final – but the following season produced no trophies and he left in May.
“You could read between the lines and that was something that we should have interpreted”.
“That is what we were looking for, and that is what we have found. We are looking forward to working with him”.
Bayern have won the Bundesliga at a canter for each of the last three seasons, something which the Italian admitted he found boring only last October.
Jose Mourinho has won league titles in Portugal, England, Italy and Spain. But so far, the 44-year-old Guardiola has given no indication as to his future plans.
Hiddink confirmed over the weekend that he will not extend his stay at Stamford Bridge beyond the end of the season, meaning his short tenure will be remarkably similar to his 2009 reign when he replaced Luis Felipe Scolari in a deal until the end of the campaign. United boss Louis van Gaal is also under pressure following his side’s recent slump in form, which has seen them exit the Champions League at the group stages and lose to Norwich on Saturday.
The Bundesliga outfit were quick to announce their replacement for the outward-bound Pep Guardiola, who confirmed he would be leaving the Allianz Arena when his deal runs out in the summer.
