Karma Adds a $50 Unlimited Data Plan to Its Wi-Fi Hotspot
Karma has always tried to be a different kind of wireless carrier. The data purchased through Refuel never expires and allows for up to eight simultaneous connections.
New York, NY, November 5, 2015 – Karma, the New York City-based startup making sure you never have to worry about getting online, launches Neverstop: $50 a month for all you can surf data at speeds up to 5Mbps.
Up until now, the shareable hotspot company Karma has offered internet access one way: Pay as you go for $14 a gigabyte, with free data thrown in when others hop onto your Karma Go hotspot. It uses Sprint’s LTE network for access, just like Karma’s other plans, and doesn’t require a term commitment or contract.
The new plan makes sense for those who more regularly travel or who work outside the home, and are used to paying monthly for a mobile hotspot, or who don’t want the hassle of having to constantly top up their device.
If you don’t need unlimited data all the time, you can also switch between Neverstop or Refuel (pay-as-you-go) month to month. Van Wel notes that the unlimited speeds can also improve eventually, as Sprint beefs up. “Neverstop”, as it’s called, is a $50 per month option that gives you unlimited data use at a flat 5 Mbps speed, with up to three devices connected at any time. Van Wel says that future Neverstop plans may offer faster speeds or more simultaneous connections at a higher per-month cost.
Since Neverstop plans have no limit on how much data you can use, Karma has tweaked its sharing rewards for them. However, that sharing is rewarded, as users on the Refuel plan are given 100MB of data every time someone else connects, and that idea is extended to Neverstop as well, with each person earning the owner $1 off their next bill.
With Neverstop you’re still not tied into any sort of contract, and you’re free to switch to/from Neverstop and Refuel at any time directly in the Karma app if your data needs change.
But for power users, now you can opt for more.
