Kashmir issue will be resolved through indigenous struggle: Aziz
23 officially confirmed to India that its top diplomat will attend a global conference on Afghanistan in Amritsar early next month amid intensifying deadly military tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad.
On the diplomatic front, the Adviser said Pakistan is forcefully raising the Kashmir dispute at all global forums.
“Kashmir issue is an unfinished agenda of the Partition; we will never abandon our Kashmiri brethren in their freedom struggle”, the statement quoted Nawaz Sharif as saying during the meeting. A bilateral meeting between Aziz and an Indian official on the margins of the meeting is yet to be confirmed. ‘Parliament should give only one message that India should immediately stop atrocities and barbarism in occupied Kashmir, ‘ she added.
Sharif reviewed the situation along the LoC and called upon the worldwide community to play its active role in defusing tension between the two nations, “which has been deliberately escalated by the Indian side”, said the statement issued by the Prime Minister’s office.
He said Pakistan had “readied all of its (battle) plans following threats from India” after the terror attack in Uri sector.
“We are not anxious about India at all”, the Air Chief said, speaking at the ninth International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS).
India and Pakistan have been contesting the Jammu and Kashmir region since gaining independence from the United Kingdom in 1947. “If the Kashmir movement reaches its logical conclusion, the other movements there will also achieve success. Let me state the facts”, external affairs ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said in his weekly media briefing here.
This tactic has clearly not been working for them now, not only because India’s retaliation has been, unlike in the past, robust and inflicting a heavy toll on Pakistan but also because the worldwide community has seen through the sinister game plan of Pakistan, which stands globally isolated today.
“We have unambiguous evidence about Indian interference in our territory and dossiers in this regard have been presented before the world community”, he said.
Days ahead of his visit to India, Pakistan’s foreign policy chief Sartaj Aziz on Friday said the Kashmir issue would only be resolved through “indigenous” movement within the Valley led by the younger generation.
