Kasich campaigns in Iowa with boost in NH polls
Donald Trump leads Ted Cruz in a Monmouth University poll of likely Iowa Republican caucusgoers conducted largely before Trump said he’ll skip Thursday night’s debate.
He first challenged Trump to a “mano a mano” debate Monday after the businessman said he doesn’t plan to attend Thursday’s Fox News debate in Des Moines.
A new CNN/ORC poll of Republican voters has Trump doubling up on Cruz, 41 percent to 19 percent, with more than two-thirds of Republicans saying they believe the billionaire will seize the party’s presidential nomination.
“Capitulating to politicians’ ultimatums about a debate moderator violates all journalistic standards, as do threats”, the Fox News network said in a statement.
In contrast, majorities of Republican voters say they view Ben Carson (80 percent), Ted Cruz (76 percent) and Marco Rubio (70 percent) as religious.
There comes a point – and we are long past it – when one media outlet shouldn’tbe able to control the fortunes of one political party the way Fox News does the Republicans.
While Fox may suffer “a short-term loss in terms of the ratings for this particular debate, it’s a long-term gain for Fox in terms of their respectability and credibility”, Feldstein said.
“I will be the greatest job president God ever created”, he said. “I fully understand why her former husband left her for a man-he made a good decision”.
The Republican National Committee appeared eager to distance itself from the Trump-Fox war.
Noah argued that while taking part in Thursday’s debate would not increase the amount of coverage Trump has been receiving, picking a fight with the conservative network – and Megyn Kelly in particular – would bring him even more attention. Late Wednesday, Trump tweeted that it was Fox’s mocking press release that inspired him to skip the debate, more so than Kelly. The candidates on the debate stage shouldn’t be worrying about what the moderators are going to say.
While earlier debates have been instrumental in the rise and fall of several GOP candidates, they have had minimal apparent impact on Trump’s standing.
“I think I could make the argument – we’ll see how things progress with the campaigns across the country – that this could be the biggest debate of the entire year”. “And that’ll be good for me and good for the other people on the stage”.
Trump, who called his decision “pretty close to irrevocable” in the press conference, said he’d hold an Iowa event at the same time as the debate to raise money for wounded veterans.
Trump’s supporters also used the words “hooker”, “slut” and “skank” in their rampage of tweets.
“Apparently Mr. Trump considers Megyn Kelly very, very scary”. In a call on Saturday with a Fox News executive, Lewandowski stated that Megyn had a “rough couple of days after that last debate” and he “would hate to have her go through that again.’ Lewandowski was warned not to level any more threats, but he continued to do so”.
The Texas senator suggested radio hosts Mark Levin, Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh moderate the debate – or offered to face-off with him one-on-one and simply take questions from the audience.
