Kate Winslet shocked to win best supporting actress at Golden Globes
The 40-year-old star, who picked up the best supporting actress gong for her role in Danny Boyle’s film Steve Jobs, said she did not expect to win. “It’s really quite hard and I would happily end my life knowing that I have spoken your words”.
It was the third Globes trophy for both of them.
Winslet went on to discuss the multitude of opportunities she’s had in her career: “I’ve been very blessed”.
When she got on stage Kate revealed that she was “extremely surprised” and “overwhelmed” to win the award.

Taraji P Henson handed cookies to audience members including Gaga, Angela Bassett and DiCaprio as she was named best actress in a TV drama for the role of Cookie Lyon in hip hop saga Empire.
Carol is also nominated for best motion picture (drama), alongside Mad Max: Fury Road, The Revenant, Room and Spotlight.
Aaron Sorkin wrote the screenplay for the movie based on the authorized Walter Isaacson biography of Steve Jobs.
Lawrence embraced her friend and fellow nominee Schumer and her director David O Russell as she was named best actress in a comedy or musical for Joy, and onstage told Russell she wants to be buried next to him.
Calling it a ‘terrific year in film, ‘ DiCaprio congratulated the other actors in the category before talking about his time filming The Revenant. This is Sorkin’s second Golden Globe.
