Katie Derham confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing 2015
Describing her happiness at being a part of the BBC dancing show, she added: “I’m extremely excited to be part of such a wonderful show”.
“I spend hours admiring professional musicians and performers at the Proms and BBC Radio 3, so I’m thrilled to have the chance to throw myself into an equally demanding and attractive world”.
The BBC Proms host, 45, has already learned to conduct on reality show Maestro back in 2008.
Celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott, broadcaster Jeremy Vine, former Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote and EastEnders actress Kellie Bright have already been confirmed as her dance rivals. The first is I will be turning 40 next year, I think it is the flawless time for a new, exciting challenge.
Katie Derham is the fifth celebrity confirmed to be taking part in this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing.
The married mother-of-two became the youngest national newsreader at the age of 27 in 1998 after joining ITV News as media and arts correspondent.
They include Natasha Kaplinsky, champion of series one, and former BBC Breakfast presenter Chris Hollins who won series seven.
