Katie Holmes on the Impact of Dawson’s Creek in Her Life
In an interview with Elle Canada, the 36-year-old actress admitted that her role as Joey Potter in Dawson’s Creek, will always hold a special place in her heart.
Katie Holmes feels that she has probably not moved past the cult classic Dawson’s Creek. The famous WB series helped in launching careers of Katie and her co-stars James Van Der Beek, Michelle Williams, and Joshua Jackson. Holmes famously turned down auditions for the show, which ran from 1998-2003, because she was starring in a high school production Damn Yankees. She however, got the role after she sent an audition filmed in the basement of her family home in Toledo, Ohio. The show put Katie on a Hollywood radar.
The actress confessed that she is still in touch with all her co-stars from Dawson’s Creek. The creative forces behind the iconic Dawson’s Creek will partake in ATX Television Festival’s Season 4 Fest in first Writers’ Room Reunion panel. The ATX Television Festival scheduled to run from June 4-7, 2015 in Austin, celebrates TV, everything past and present, featuring classic shows, gone-too-soon cult classics, new series, and current hits.
The single mother, who has a daughter Suri with her ex-husband Tom Cruise, starred in films such as 2005’s Batman Begins and Thank You For Smoking and 2014’s The Giver. But, none of her roles have been quite as impactful as her portrayal of Joey Potter in Dawson’s Creek.
Holmes is currently concentrating on her directorial debut, “All We Had”, a film based on Annie Weatherwax’s novel. Katie will also act in the movie, which is described as a story of a mother and daughter, struggling to make a life in small-town America.
Katie also told the magazine that she is not an ambitious person and likes to enjoy different experiences. Great Katie we like appreciate yout thoughts to experiment and enjoy the same.
