Katy Perry, Mariah Carey and Oprah Winfrey Featured in Carine Roitfeld’s ICONS

Mariah Carey and Katy Perry are two of nine modern icons featured in Harper’s Bazaar magazine’s 2015 Icon series, having been transformed into Marie Antoinette and Elizabeth Taylor respectively.

For Perry, her choice of the famed British was about more than just looks.

Carey, meanwhile, wears an elaborate French outfit as Marie Antoinette on Fragonard’s swing.

Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high, Oprah is looking fabulous dressed as Glinda the Good Witch-puffy pink dress, sparkling wand and all.

Katy, 30, poked fun at herself as she spoke of her enjoyment at dressing up as the late actress Elizabeth Taylor – who married eight times to seven different men. “I’m pretty much the opposite of Marie Antoinette“, the singer said, “but it’s always fun to throw on a costume”.

Jean-Paul tapped talents of today including Dakota Johnson, Jessica Chastain, Mariah Carey and model and musician, Lucky Blue to represent luminaries of years past.

While Dakota Johnson got in touch with her mythical side.

“I love when she says to Dorothy, ‘You’ve always had the power.’ That is the message for all of us”, Oprah explained.

The portfolio will appear in all of the magazine’s worldwide editions – 32 in total – with the U.S. version hitting newsstands on August 18.
