Kayaker fights off aggressive hammerhead sharks
Mark McCracken, 33, filmed the 15-minutes encounter off Gaviota State Beach, near Santa Barbara, and later posted it onto his Instagram account.
“He was right behind me and I couldn’t tell if we was biting my kayak or head-butting it or what he was doing exactly, but I didn’t want to find out what he was capable of”, McCracken told FOX 5.
The speedy fish is seen circling the kayak, which was set up with multiple rods, during the 15-minute encounter.
Mark McCracken fought off a shark that relentlessly came after his kayak as McCracken was fishing off the California coast.
What McCracken said after this will haunt your dreams: “The shark ‘followed me all the way into about three feet of water”.
When McCracken made it to shore, so did the hammerhead.
Lowe also noted that a “whole tropical food chain” has migrated into the region, bringing along hammerhead sharks, as well as juvenile great whites. “Pretty freakish and insane experience to say the least”.
Bill Morales was fishing about a mile off Dana Point when an “aggressive” shark circled his boat and tried to steal his catch.
‘I just kicked a hammerhead shark’s a**’ (Picture: YouTube/Mark McCracken)Despite being intimidating, most hammerheads are considered harmless because they are relatively small and nearly never attack.
The man was 1.5 miles off Deer Creek beach in Malibu when a 10ft hammerhead shark bit his lower leg.
“These sharks are everywhere”.
