Kayne West, Adidas expand partnership for Yeezy line
Just when you though Kanye West couldn’t get any more influential in streetwear fashion, he steps up his game with the introduction of adidas + KANYE WEST.
The Wall Street Journal reports the deal will be for more than just shoes and that the Kanye-centric products could be sold at existing partner stores, like Foot Locker, too.
The new deal is driven by the fact that everything West has touched at Adidas has turned to gold, as evidenced by the company’s 2015 sales growing by 10% and their Originals division (which houses Ye’s Yeezy brand) showing a 45% growth in the 4th quarter of a year ago.
Adidas is expanding its partnership with Kanye West with plans to launch a line of basketball and football shoes and apparel bearing the hip-hop artist’s name.
Added Eric Liedtke, adidas CMO, “Kanye is a true creator who has the ability to see things others don’t”.
With Adidas having dropped the Yeezy Boost 750 Grey Gum recently, sneakerheads are now going insane for the next popular sneaker collaboration from Adidas and Kanye West which is expected to be the Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 “White” colorway.
A new team will be formed at Adidas’ design headquarters in Portland, Oregon working exclusively with the new branded product. Now, the two are bolstering their partnership with a new line of Yeezy-branded footwear, accessories and clothing for all genders, and retail stores that will specifically sell the products. We can’t wait to see it. Be sure to check out Design & Trend for more updates on Kanye’s adidas partnership! West has since designed two Yeezy fashion lines for the brand. Adidas is also banking on West to play a pivotal role in its disruption of the retail space. The low-top model unites a BOOST™ cushioning sole and adidas’ Primeknit material with West’s pioneering aesthetic. Introducing the next chapter: adidas + @KanyeWest.
