Keith Borum, terminally ill patient weds his girlfriend
“We couldn’t have done it no better.” uttered Nina Borum as she marries his terminally ill boyfriend in his hospital bed in Good Samaritan Hospital in New York.
However, Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, New York made sure their patient Keith Borum had a dream wedding, in spite of the fact that it was taking place in a hospital room.
Borum, who is currently battling the non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a disease’s he’s had for one and a half years now, was told recently that his cancer was terminal.
Keith, on his hospital bed enjoyed every moment of the big day and expressed his excitement and joy by saying that it was “the best day of my life”.
The nurses also piled into the tight hospital room to witness the ceremony.
During the ceremony, the couple were surrounded by friends, family and hospital staff all wearing protective blue medical gowns over their clothes meant to protect Keith Borum against infection. Nina said that Keith suffered through a lot of things and that the man can’t walk. “He’s really hard…It’s just sunk his spirit”.
After the vows were exchanged and the minister pronounced them man and wife, they shared a kiss to seal the deal. Nina said that she doesn’t have any favorite moment because “the whole event was great”. Ware also revealed that she and her fellow nurses raised the money to buy the couple’s wedding ring that’s worth $400.
Despite the many difficulties that Keith has been facing, he wanted to maintain his playful style and stole Nina’s sunglasses to wear.
‘I couldn’t imagine how great it could be or would be.
After Borum told the hospital staff that he had hoped to save up for an engagement ring to propose to his girlfriend of three years, Nina, nurses decided to raise the money themselves as others donated flowers and cakes and even wedding rings. “We couldn’t have done it no better”, said the bride, Nina Borum, with sparkling eyes.
The staff was even able to find people to donate flowers, cake, and treats for a reception.
In the end, despite a devastating illness, you have a happy couple.
Keith has been struggling against non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma for about 18 months now.
