Kelly Clarkson gives Rihanna’s ‘Stay’ a powerful makeover

Kelly Clarkson gave fans a treat at her recent concert on Tuesday as she turned a classic pop hit into a loving ballad!

“This is a throwback jam to our middle school days”, Clarkson says before introducing the song.

They aren’t the only ones. “I’m so excited to sing this song because I love this guy”, Clarkson told the crowd.

Us Weekly reports she then dedicated the performance to a concertgoer named Alicia before putting her own stripped down twist on the song.

And she’s not afraid to take chances while doing so: In 2012, the three-time Grammy Award victor performed a particularly quirky and fun version of Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” in the rapper’s home state of Michigan. “New songs keep it fresh for us and for the audience, but we’re definitely doing all the hits people want to hear”.
