Kelly: Trump Threatened To Bully Me On Twitter For Reporting Rape Allegation
Kelly wrote in her new memoir, “Settle for More”, that Trump harassed her and complained to Fox News executives after becoming paranoid that she would ask him a pointed question during a primary debate.
Stephanopoulos then played an archived clip of a 2015 interview of Kelly on “Charlie Rose” in which she says that Ailes was “nothing but good” and “loyal” to her. Ailes has referenced the interview in his defense against Kelly’s new accusations. “You don’t like what’s happening in the workplace, go to human resources or leave”, the anchor said, without mentioning Kelly by name.
She admitted that she was at times afraid for her safety, but said, she “never changed my coverage because of his threats or his attention”. “I don’t think that’s right”, O’Reilly explained. “I have a powerful microphone and a powerful platform at Fox News”. Kelly had reported on Trump’s divorce proceedings, in which his second wife, Ivana, testified that he raped her.
“I kept a record of Roger’s behavior, and have since shared the facts with those who investigated the case against him”, she wrote. But she is trying to shine a light on the issue and put “companies on notice that we’re watching”. My friend Sean Hannity, who is a big Trump booster as you know, he was not able to stand Trump down.
O’Donnell asked if O’Reilly thought that was what Kelly was doing.
One redditor even suggested throwing the book a few two-star reviews “to make the onslaught seem more natural”. So you didn’t want to get on the wrong side of, him because he was actually beloved inside the building and very well-liked in the industry.
Megyn Kelly: Not on the O’Reilly show?
During a publicity stop on her book tour interviews on Wednesday, Kelly was asked about O’Reilly’s comment that her book reflected poorly on Fox News.
O’Reilly said that it has been “open season” on Fox News.
“I’m not interested in basically litigating something that is finished that makes my network look bad. I was far from the only one”, she said on “Dr. Phil” on Tuesday.
“I don’t know”, O’Reilly said, noting again that he has no interest in making Fox “look bad”. “And I was proud of them that they feel as I do, which is sunlight is the best disinfectant”. And that’s not to say she couldn’t do very valuable, great stuff on some other platform. Kelly, 45, is seen as a major part of Fox’s future and network management is eager to sign her beyond her current contract, which expires next July. “And so in a way, this past year has been a chance to build those muscles”, she said.
Trump had repeatedly attacked the Fox News host, calling her a “bimbo”, “crazy” and saying she had “blood coming out of her… wherever”.
“It grew more severe over time”, she said.
She described her book as more inspirational than gossipy and said that the book’s message is that adversity can be an opportunity.
“If you take a look at people who you admire who have accomplished incredible things – Oprah, right?”
But Kelly has been clear about what happened. I’ve got a country that’s in a transition, political transition.
