Kelly wants Bradford back in Philly as his QB
The courtship is in the “like” stage. Yet it’s still a long way from the “like-you-a-lot” stage, or when the sides actually sit down at the negotiating table.
Kelly said that Peters, who has battled back issues this season, got hurt early in the game and wasn’t able to finish it out as a result.
“We’ll learn from that son of a gun, that’s for sure”, he said. “I just think Kirk has played so well that he has earned the right”. A player shouldn’t be anxious about a contract while the season is going on, and that will be something we will adjust after the season. Everyone notices. The coordinators pick up on it. The position coaches pick up on it. The strength coaches, the team leaders, the other players – they all pick up on it. And then pretty soon, you have an entire culture where everyone has bought into this one, big idea. “Obviously, we are not at the stage where we have been talking about that”. They only stood a chance entering the game because of the pathetic NFC East, but the Redskins’ rout sealed the division and left the Eagles and Giants on the outside looking in. “In between the lines and out, I put in a lot of hard work, a lot of success and had the city behind me”.
Quarterback Sam Bradford says he wants to be an Eagle. “That’s certainly not the case”. The Eagles dropped to 6-9 and will miss the postseason for the second time in three years under coach Chip Kelly.
On Saturday night, the Eagles suffered a 38-24 loss at home and were bested in total yards, turnover differential and first downs. Arizona won the NFC West with a 40-17 win over the Eagles last Sunday night. He’s now seventh in that category overall this season among qualified passers with a 99.2 rating. The 4.9 yards per carry against Washington’s defense was the second highest total in the league.
Again on defense, the signing of Byron Maxwell has played out as bad as many expected it would when the deal was announced. He added though that it was not good enough, but he will continue working.
The Redskins improved to 8-7 with their third victory in a row and are back in the post-season for the first time since 2012. In the article, I also questioned whether the Redskins might bench Kirk Cousins and turn to Robert Griffin III or Colt McCoy if they lost to Tampa Bay and Cousins played poorly.
Eagles’ safety, and pro-bowl alternate, Malcolm Jenkins spoke reporters today, including NJ.com’s Matt Lombardo, and had some interesting comments on the team’s scheme, perhaps touching on some adjustments that Kelly may need to make this off-season. That’s the most by an interior Eagles lineman since Cory Simon collected that number in 2000 …
“We felt like we were an up-and-coming football team and could compete with anyone”.
