Kennedy University Hospital rated ‘high performing’ in 2 clinical areas

Those receiving nominations from an average of at least 5 percent of the responding specialists and the last three surveys are nationally ranked Best Hospitals.

U.S. News & World Report unveiled the 27th edition of the Best Hospitals rankings at http://health.usnews.com/best-hospitals.

“Our goal is to provide the safest and highest quality patient care to those who come to us from every county in Kentucky, as well as from many other states, by providing them the expertise of integrated, multidisciplinary teams working to solve the most complex health issues”, said Bo Cofield, UK HealthCare vice president and chief clinical operations officer. Hospitals are assessed in 16 specialties for the rankings.

The Cleveland Clinic was the only hospital in OH to land on the U.S. News “elite 20 hospital Honor Roll”, ranking No. 2 behind the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. Mayo Clinic was ranked the best in eight specialties, more than any hospital around the country. General, Brigham and Women’s, Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Beth Israel Deaconess and Tufts.

In addition to their top 50 national rankings, LIJ Medical Center was listed as the eighth-best hospital in New York State and ninth in the New York metropolitan area, while Huntington ranked ninth in New York State and 10th in the New York metropolitan area.

U.S. News also ranks Moffitt in the top 4% in Urology in the U.S., and high performing in Gastroenterology and GI Surgery, Colon Cancer Surgery, and Lung Cancer Surgery. It still publishes annual “best-of” consumer guides that include rankings of colleges, high schools, nursing homes, mutual funds, health plans, diets and more, according to its website. We are pleased with our recognition by US News & World Report, but equally delighted with the record number of MUSC departments and divisions – adult and pediatric – also recognized.
