Kentish Town Tube incident: Man arrested for attempted murder after man pushed
Last month, the station was closed after armed police stormed Warren Street and earlier this week campaigners urged the next London mayor to pedestrianise Oxford Street after fears it will reach breaking point during the Christmas shopping rush.
A man has been left with life-changing injuries after being pushed off a Tube platform and into the path of a train.
TfL said pressure had increased at Oxford Circus – the capital’s busiest underground station – because of upgrades to the neighbouring Tottenham Court Road and Bond Street.
Detective Superintendent Gary Richardson, of British Transport Police, said Ferguson was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after voluntarily attending a London police station.
A man has been seriously injured after allegedly being pushed under a train at a north London tube station.
Finn Brennan of Aslef said the union’s reps will meet tomorrow to discuss the current offer from London Underground.
She later said she was in “utter shock and disbelief” and hoped the man would be okay.
Passengers on trains further down the line were held on board before being walked back down the tracks to Tufnell Park station, which is now closed for lift refurbishment work.
“We are working closely with the police as they carry out their investigation”.
The commuter was treated by paramedics after being hit by the train at around 11.45am on Wednesday.
A spokeswoman for London Ambulance Service confirmed they were at the scene.
BTP said it was treating the incident as “suspicious” and had received reports “the man may have been pushed”.
Samir Jeraj, who works in Kentish Town, walked past the station after the incident.
