Kentucky Holds Off Wichita State to Advance to Sweet 16

This year, the NCAA slighted a very strong Wichita State team with a 10 seed, opposite Kentucky’s 2 seed, and placed these two programs onto a collision course.

On the game’s final possession, Shamet looked to try and get off a 3-pointer that could tie the game for the Shockers, but like many times before Sunday, Dominique Hawkins (with a slight assist from Bam Adebayo) made a great defensive play and Adebayo’s block sealed the deal. With four minutes to go, Fox’s steal and dunk set the tone for the terrific finish. Monk and Adebayo had blocked shots in the final 15 seconds to help United Kingdom advance with a 65-62 win. The Wildcats blocked two shots in the first half and altered many others by forcing the Shockers into awkward shots. I don’t like it with that time, but these guys guarded it.
Shaq Morris had 11 points for Wichita State, which lost for the first time in 17 games. If you follow basketball, you can clearly see that Wichita State was playing better than a 10-seed, but what did the Shockers actually accomplish this season that was worthy of anything better?
Fans say it was a tense and emotionally exhausting 40 minutes of basketball, and when the clock finally hit zero, Big Blue Nation breathed a sigh of relief. “We knew what we were doing, switching everything and playing high”.
