Kenyan police kill 3 women who attacked police station
Bomb disposal unit are now dismantling a bomb vest carried by people who conspired to attack Central Police Station in Mombasa earlier today.
Witnesses said the three women brandished knives after they were barred from accessing the cells with one throwing a petrol bomb in an attempt to burn down the station, prompting police to shoot.
One of the women then threw a petrol bomb, while the other two stabbed police officers.
“I strongly condemn this cowardly act and commend the police officers for acting decisively in the encounter”, he said.

Police did not say which group the suspects were linked to but Mohamed said the women pledged allegiance to al Shabaab.
Two police officers were rushed to hospital with injuries following the 10am attack. Police shot the three and killed them.
The police suspect the suicide bombers were wearing bullet proof jackets.
Mombasa police boss Parterson Maelo said two policemen were wounded in the stabbing attack.
A raid was conducted at Farah’s house, leading to the arrest of three Somali refugees for questioning, he said.
Joho who addressed the media at the station described the attack as cowardly.
Since 2011, the al-Shabab group has launched a series of attacks in Kenya, mainly in Nairobi and Mombasa.
Authorities have also been warning of a plot by extremist medics to unleash an anthrax attack.

Four medics are now in police custody accused of being IS members and plotting the attack.
