Kerr says he will coach Warriors for remainder of Finals
Warriors’ Stephen Curry celebrating after draining a three-point jumper in Golden State’s 113-91 win over Cleveland in Game One of the NBA Finals.
James is 3-4 in NBA Finals appearances but his teams, the Cavaliers and Miami from 2011 to 2014, are 1-7 in NBA Finals openers.
James posted 10 assists in the first half against Golden State, a career high for any postseason half for James, according to ESPN Stats and Info. “Now to say that you’re going to get that many open lanes, you can’t forecast that. So it’s good to have him back over there”. And we’re a full group when he’s out here. The two combined for 66 points on 52.1 percent shooting, 18 assists and 14 rebounds.
Curry dashed across the floor, retrieved the ball, apologized, passed it to an assistant coach and continued running in a circle, back to the right wing, beyond the three-point line. “I’m just trying to play possession by possession”, Thompson said.
“I just think about the game plan; I think about the matchups and things that we can do better”, James said.
Coach Steve Kerr has returned to the Warriors’ bench Sunday after missing the last 11 games while dealing with complications following back surgeries, and naturally got a huge roar from the Golden State faithful at Oracle Arena when introduced.
Those numbers aren’t going to cut it against a juggernaut Warriors team. “‘Knute Rockne, All-American?’ Yeah, probably show that”. And that meant that in order to win the championship they had to win four of the next five games – which they so spectacularly did.
Cleveland simply doesn’t have the players or firepower to keep up with the Warriors if they’re able to play the game at their desired pace.
– The second, James got no help after he swiped unsuccessfully at the ball. “But we just got to play our game and the way we know how to play, and that’s what’s been successful for us”.
Durant scored from every corner of the court. They’re going to try to get their 3-point shooters going and rebound the ball.
Some of the faces have changed on both sides of the series, but there is one common thread from the title trilogy so far: the Cavaliers have gone into Game 2 down, 0-1. Not even a 3-1 deficit previous year was enough to faze him.
Of course, Golden State didn’t have Kevin Durant in either of their previous two Finals showdowns vs. Cleveland.
The Warriors, meanwhile tied the record for least turnovers in an NBA Finals game with four and made Cleveland pay for it, as Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry went to work against an nearly non-existent defensive effort.
It didn’t matter in the end. That led to his decision to only play Thompson 22 minutes. Cleveland shot 3 of 20 on 3s in the first half and 8 for 29 total.
However, we still don’t know if he will be on the sidelines for tonight’s game.
Warriors: The Warriors had their first 40-point quarter in the Finals since scoring 41 in the first quarter of Game 6 in 1967 against the 76ers.
“You have to be the first one to hit”. On talent alone, a player like Lance Stephenson could make most of the passes those guys can, but he doesn’t have the consistent precision nor the foresight to even imagine some of the passes that are available to LeBron or Paul.
The 13-0 Warriors are on a roll and matched a Finals low with only four turnovers, and if Klay Thompson finds his shooting touch at last it could be another tough day on defense for the Cavs.
