Kerry: Without the two state solution, Israel could become “a fortress for”
The brother of a Palestinian teen who died in unclear circumstances in October was among three Palestinians – including one suspected attacker – killed by Israeli fire on Friday, authorities said.
One U.S. citizen and 19 Israelis have been killed in Palestinian attacks.
Most of the others were killed in clashes with police or troops.
The PSR survey, which interviewed 1,270 people in 127 randomly selected locations, showed just 45% of Palestinians support the two-state solution and only 34% think it is feasible because of the expansion of Israeli settlements in the West Bank.
She also voiced deep concern over reports of excessive use of force by Israeli forces and added that all instances of the use of force resulting in death or injury by law enforcement officers should be the subject of prompt, independent and impartial investigations.
Police spokeswoman Luba Samri says they attempted to ram their vehicles into soldiers and border police before being fatally shot.
“There can never be justification for wanton attacks on civilians like we saw today”, said Israeli government spokesman Mark Regev.
Rights group Defense for Children International-Palestine found in July that in the first half of 2014, “86 percent of Palestinian children experienced some form of physical violence during their arrest or interrogation”.
After the attack on Monday afternoon, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened an emergency meeting with Mayor of Jerusalem Nir Barkat, Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan and Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz where he is reported to have ordered protective barriers to be installed at hundreds of Jerusalem bus stops.
