Kesha Cancels Concert at Chicago’s Layola University Amid Dr. Luke Court Case
Kesha is embroiled in a legal battle with producer Dr. Luke, whom she is suing for alleged emotional and sexual abuse.
A judge ruled last week that Kesha could not be released from her contract with Sony.
Kesha will no longer be able to perform at Loyola’s annual Colossus weekend due to personal reasons.
Loyola has already announced that tickets will be refunded.
“Kesha has expressed her disappointment in having to cancel, but she feels that this is the best decision for her at this time”, the Loyola Department of Programming related in their statement. Titled “Loyola In Solidarity With Kesha” on Facebook, the rally is slated to go forward, despite the cancelled show. Come out to protest rape culture and show your support for Kesha!
The action will take place on the quad just outside Gentile Arena. However, posters will not be allowed into the concert, as requested by Kesha’s management. “And please, use the hashtag #loyolawithkesha when posting about this event, or posting articles relevant to Kesha’s court case”.
Meanwhile, Kesha recently thanked her fans and friends for their support and spoke of her need to be “free from [her] abuser”. “I’m so, so beyond humbled and thankful for all of the support I’ve received from everyone”.
Lady Gaga, Troye Sivan and some of music’s biggest stars have praised Kesha for her strength amid a contentious court case with her record label, but now that the singer’s motion to exit her contract early has been struck down she’s taking some time to heal.
